WIDE, VIDC and Red Cross invite to a workshop facilitated by Luis Lineo & Alexander Öze
Morning session for all genders (9:00-13:00)
Afternoon session for persons identifying as men (14:00-16:00)
Gender equality is a key factor for development and sustainability. Achieving gender equality requires everyone, not only women and girls but also men and boys as well as persons identifying as LGBTIQA+.
The main objective of the workshop (morning session) is to understand why the active involvement of men and boys for a gender just society is crucial and to enable participants to mobilize project partners for this purpose. Participants will learn from good practice examples such as the „Redefine“ project in the Caucasus region, implemented by MÄN. The facilitators will also zoom in on the important role of men & boys in promoting SRHR & menstrual hygiene based on an example from Lebanon. At the same time, the workshop will provide space for (self-)reflection on gender discrimination and masculinity norms and give insights on how destructive or toxic masculinities can be transformed.
The afternoon session is only for participants who identify as men. It will provide a safe, judgement-free space for a deeper understanding of different types of masculinities as well as vulnerabilities of men and for self-reflection on various gender roles as men on a personal and social level, e.g. as fathers, partners, etc. In this session MÄN’s methods for engaging men and boys in gender equality will be applied.
Participants
All persons who are interested in the topic and in particularly persons working in international cooperation (development cooperation and humanitarian aid) or similar fields on all levels (project management, organizational management, communications, advocacy and policy…).
