The EU-Chile Agreement comes at a time of unprecedented environmental damage and social tensions caused by successive waves of resource extraction in the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile. Sudan is the third-largest gold producer in Africa. However, a big portion of the gold production is believed to be smuggled out of the country, with proceeds often used to fund the ongoing internal conflict. The illegitimate gold trade has also helped establish a relationship between the Sudanese RSF militia and the Russian Wagner Group, with Sudanese gold serving as a funding source for Russian interests, including the war in Ukraine.

The COPGENDERED project builds up tools, knowledge and methodologies for learners to upskill themselves (in groups, individually or with a teacher) on the linkages between gender inequality and the climate crisis. This includes capacity building through transnational trainings and providing information materials and tools for adult education providers.
